#011023: Goblin à la Mode | How to Winter
“Chilling at the crib, looking nasty and getting up to no good”
By now most people have heard the term goblin mode, voted word of the year in 2022 by a public (for the first time ever) Oxford poll with a 93% majority. Goblin mode is defined as “a type of behavior which is unapologetically self-indulgent, lazy, slovenly, or greedy, typically in a way that rejects social norms or expectations.” I myself have heavily identified with this term over the last year. To me, goblins evoke a sort of living-outside-the-bounds-of-normality spirit; which I deeply respect and seek out regularly. However, what I recently learned about the mythology of goblins made me love this term and these fantastical creatures even more.
